Dibrugarh, 15th May: Assam Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is on a visit to upper Assam to take stock of the COVID situation on Saturday, advised the deputy commissioners of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts to extend the curfew hours by two hours starting from noon.

Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, apart from Kamrup (Metro), have been the worst-hit districts since the second wave of the novel coronavirus struck Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, visited Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) to take stock of the Covid-19 situation.

“I have advised DC Dibrugarh to impose curfew in Dibrugarh district from noon of May 17 with due consultation with eminent citizens and businessmen of the district. The deputy commissioner will take the decision accordingly,” the chief minister said.
