After defeating COVID-19 two 80 plus aged women now become a source of inspiration for other patients, Assam government to set up six more plasma bank

Guwahati, July 20: Given a sharp spike in the numbers of COVID-19 positive cases in the state, the Assam government has started an extensive campaign to encourage plasma bank donations in the state.

A plasma bank in Guwahati has already started and the plasma therapy has been administered to the COVID-19 patients at Guwahati Medical College Hospital, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital.

The state government will set up six more plasma collection centres at Silchar, Diphu, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Barpeta and Jorhat.

On the other hand, despite the old age, two 80 plus aged women of Assam have now become a source of inspiration for other COVID-19 patients by defeating the deadly virus.

80-year-old Anima Boro – a resident of Guwahati was admitted at Guwahati Medical College Hospital a few days back after she was tested positive for COVID-19.

When the old lady was admitted at the government-run hospital her condition was very critical.

But Anima Boro’s extraordinary strength, positivity and her moral force had given surprise to the doctors, nurses of the hospital.

Finally she defeated the novel Coronavirus and released from the hospital.

Apart from 80-year-old Anima Boro, another 93-year-old woman from Guwahati also defeated the deadly virus recently and they have now become a source of inspiration for all the COVID-19 patients.

Assam has so far reported 23999 positive cases for COVID-19 and out of these 16023 COVID-19 patients have recovered and released from the hospitals.

The recovery rate in the state is 66.76 per cent.

The state has registered 1018 positive cases for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

During the period, 57 patients had lost their lives.

Assam has so far tested over 6.51 lakh samples for COVID-19 at 13 laboratories and the screening centres.

According to the Assam state Health department, Jorhat Medical College Hospital has so far tested 57804 samples for COVID-19 while Silchar Medical College Hospital tested 49585 samples, 59564 samples at Guwahati Medical College Hospital Hilltop Lab, 35746 samples at Assam Medical College Hospital, 49172 samples at Tezpur Medical College Hospital, 64157 samples at Barpeta Medical College Hospital, 57968 at RMRC-ICMR, 21489 at IASST, 16432 at Guwahati Medical College Hospital Lab, 16311 at Diphu Medical College Hospital, 8197 at DRDO, 9181 at NEIST, 2769 at MMCH, 36204 at screening centres and 166600 samples tested at outsourced laboratories.

In the last 24 hours, the state Health Department had tested over 18000 samples for the deadly virus across the state.
