Guwahati, May 20: Assam COVID warrior nurse renders service till her wedding day. A nurse of Assam’s Nalbari district has earned praise from many people for her dedicated works to fight against the deadly novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

23-year-old Oli Barman – a GNM nurse of Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital in Nalbari district who treating COVID-19 patients, has attended her duties till the day of her wedding.

Even she also offered to join her duty after her big day rituals are over.

Oli Barman’s wedding ceremony was held at her Singimari village house on May 18.

Oli Barman and her family members had planned a month before that they will hold the marriage ceremony during the lockdown period by following the government orders.

After months of preparations and loads of shopping, the COVID-19 outbreak had changed all plans of Oli Barman and her family.

But she was continuing both – her duty along with her wedding preparations.

She attended her duties at the government-run hospital as a COVID warrior till the big day of her wedding.

Joining as a nurse in the hospital in 2018, Oli Barman has continued her duty in the emergency section of the hospital in the last two months.

Oli Barman said that, she is a COVID warrior as well as a girl.

“At this crisis hours, I am dedicating myself to fight against COVID-19. At the same time, I want to marry someone. I have attended my duty till today. I also offer to join my duty at night after my wedding rituals get over,” Oli Barman said.

She went home for the ‘Joran’ – a traditional ritual of Assamese marriage, after attending her duty at the hospital.

Oli Barman said that only a few relatives and close friends were invited to attend her marriage function.

Many people have praised the nurse for her dedicated works to fight against COVID-19.
