Assam: Bus catches fire in Sivasagar, 35 passengers escape unhurt

Assam, Feb 21: At least 35 passengers had a narrow escape after a bus they were traveling in caught fire in Assam Sivasagar district on Saturday.

The passenger bus, proceeding to Golaghat in Sivasagar Assam, from Dibrugarh caught fire near Dimow area.

The incident came to light after the bus driver noticed smoke coming out of the bus engine. The driver immediately brought the bus to a halt and asked the passengers to get off the vehicle.

The passengers and locals tried to douse it and immediately informed the fire service department.

Later, firefighters had managed to control the situation.

A police official said that there is no report of any human casualty in the incident and all passengers of the bus are safe.
