Assam board cancels class 11 exams amid Covid-19

Assam, May 10: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced the promotion of all registered class 11 examinees without exams, due to the pandemic situation which is hardly showing any sign of betterment.

Last year too, the class 11 exams in Assam was not held in the state due to the Covid situation.

In a notification issued by the AHSEC controller of examinations, Pankaj Borthakur stated that the higher secondary first-year examination has been cancelled. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to start on May 4 but was postponed by the board fearing virus infection.

All the students, who have filled up online applications for the same are hereby declared to have been promoted to the HS 2nd Year Class for the academic session 2021-22,” read the notification.

Around three lakh students were registered for appearing in the class 11 exam conducted by the AHSEC. The board has also put on hold the class 12 state board exam, but, said that the final year students won’t be promoted without exams.

The class 12 exam was likely to be held in February-March. However, as per the directive of the state government, in view of the state elections, the schedule was reworked from May 11.
