Arunachal CM Pema Khandu becomes the first CM to reach Vijaynagar

Arunachal, March 28: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Pema Khandu became the first CM to reach Vijaynagar in Changlang district by road. Vijaynagar is the last administrative headquarters close to the Myanmar border and CM Khandu travelled 157 km from Miao via road to reach the destination.

He began his journey on 25th March, on a vehicle and foot, along the road that is yet to be made motorable. The CM was accompanied by Minister Kamlung Mossang, Minister Honchun Ngandam and various other dignitaries.

The CM revealed in a public meeting that he personally undertook the travel to assess the road quality and ensure that the construction work to make the entire route motorable by March 2022 is completed on time.

He assured that the officials from the rural works department (RWD) who accompanied him on this journey will submit a report on the status of the road upon the completion of the inspection process.

He said since the road falls in the Namdapha National Park area, so, the entire stretch of road cannot be blacktopped but will be done wherever possible.

However, he expressed that a slew of developmental activities will follow once the road reaches Vijaynagar Arunachal. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) will be tasked to look after the maintenance of the roads once it is completed.

The CM said that the Namdapha region is a biodiversity hotspot area, and improved road conditions will give a boost to tourism.

He appealed to the local community of Yobin to enforce a ban on hunting so that the region’s pristine biodiversity is preserved.

The local population was assured of proper funding for manpower, infrastructure, health and education by the 41-year-old. Moreover, the CM also inaugurated a helipad in addition to providing three Mahindra Thar jeeps to the Vijaynagar administration, police and the Assam Rifles posted in the region.
