561 healthcare workers receive Covishield vaccine on Day 1 in Nagaland

Nagaland, Jan 17: A total of 561 healthcare workers in Nagaland received the Covishield vaccine on the first day of the vaccination, health officials informed.

In a late update, Dr Ritu Thurr, state the immunization officer informed that the state successfully conducted the COVID-19 vaccination at nine selected launch sites across the state.

A target of 100 vaccines was to be administered at each session site on the first day of the vaccination. However, only the Phek district achieved the feat with 100 healthcare workers vaccinated on Saturday.

They informed that Dimapur recorded 82 beneficiaries, Kohima with 80, Mokokchung with 73, Peren with 54, Zunheboto with 51, Tuensang with 48, Mon with 43, and Wokha with 30 beneficiaries.

He further said that all vaccinated healthcare workers of Nagaland would receive the subsequent dose of covishield vaccine after 28 days, and Covid-19 appropriate behaviours would be followed even after the vaccination.

All districts will also have more session sites on Monday. He urged the citizens to spread wrong information about the vaccine as it has undergone all pre-clinical and clinical trials.

The healthcare workers who were vaccinated on Saturday included doctors, nurses, and support staff.
