partial lockdown

Mizoram, 20th November: A five-day partial lockdown has been imposed in Lawngtlai town and Siachangkawn village, where a new case was detected from the community recently. The decision has been taken in an emergency meeting held at DC’s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai Dr. Andrew H. Vanlaldika.

The urge was felt due to the recent spike of COVID-19 cases, most of which were from community transmission, and the impending general election to the Member of District Council under the Lai Autonomous District Council towards which all precautionary measures were felt necessary. It is hoped that this partial lockdown will break the chain of community transmission and ensure free and fast contact tracing and necessary testing.

Deputy Commissioner then issued an order imposing partial lockdown within Lawngtlai town and Siachangkawn village with effect from 12:00 noon of 20.11.2020 (Friday) till 11:59 p.m. of 24.11.2020 (Tuesday). Unnecessary movement within or in and out of the affected areas will not be allowed.

All stores and shops, except medical stores, will remain closed, VLTFs will arrange for the buying of essential commodities for their respective localities as necessary. Offices are also to function with one-third of total staff. However, all election processes will continue unaffected.
