Delhi, Jan 15: The first time, India demonstrated an offensive swarm drone system at the annual Army Day parade in the national capital on Friday. The swarm drones can be efficiently used in the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses/ Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD/DEAD) roles.
A total of 75 drones were demonstrated that are working autonomously to identify and take down targets with Kamikaze missions – attacking the enemy Air Defense sites or other critical infrastructural assets.
The Indian Army is celebrating the 73rd Army Day today. It is celebrated every year at all the command headquarters to honor the soldiers of our country who have set the greatest example of selfless service and brotherhood.
Except for the contingent commanders at the Army Day parade, all other troops are wearing face masks in line with Covid-19 protocols.
Naik Sandeep of 10 Para Special Forces unit was among five Army personnel who were awarded the Sena Medal posthumously for their acts of gallantry in different operations. Sandeep had eliminated two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir and saving the life of his squad commander.
Army chief warns China amid LAC standoff
Speaking on the occasion, Army Chief MM Naravane gave a stern warning to China which is ”conspiring to unilaterally change status quo on borders in eastern Ladakh’. The militaries of the two countries are locked in an eight-month-long bitter border standoff in eastern Ladakh.
India and China have held several rounds of diplomatic and military talks in the last few months to resolve the standoff. However, no concrete breakthrough has been achieved so far.
“You all are aware of ongoing tension with China on northern borders. Regarding conspiracy to unilaterally change the status quo on borders, a befitting reply was given. I want to assure the country that sacrifice of Braveheart of Galwan would not go in vain,” said the Army Chief.
“We are committed to finding the resolution of our disputes through discussions and political efforts but no one should commit the mistake of testing our patience,” he added.
