COVID19 cases in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 3: 1178 new COVID19 cases detected in Assam with four more deaths, the COVID19 death toll in Assam has mounted to 105.

Four more persons succumbed to the deadly virus infection in the state in the last 24 hours.

According to the reports, one each patient from Karimganj, Kamrup (Metro), Tinsukia and Jorhat district died due to COVID-19 infection.

On the other hand, the state has registered 1178 new positive cases for the new virus in the last 24 hours.

With the new cases, the state tally has now increased to 42904.

Out of the new cases, 268 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro) district.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, 1178 new COVID19 positive cases have been detected in the state in last 24 hours.

He tweeted – “1178 new #COVID19 cases detected out of 19943 tests conducted in last 24 hrs. We have been able to maintain a low positivity rate consistently (today- 5.91%). Kamrup (M): 268. Total cases 42904, Recovered 31442, Active cases 11354, Deaths 105.

On the other hand, the state has so far conducted over 9.30 lakh tests for COVID-19.

The state has tested 27544 samples per million population and it is fifth-best across the country.
